Bell Ringing at Sandon All Saints

Bell ringing has taken place over many centuries at Sandon All Saints and is still practised today. The present Ring of 6 bells has evolved over time with the earliest bell dated 1609.

The sound of church bells is felt by many to be a part of “the English way of life”. Our bell ringers are all volunteers and meet to practise on a Monday night with much jollity. There are many stages to becoming an accomplished bell ringer; firstly learning how to ring the heavy bells, and then memorising the changing order of the bells to provide a pleasant and evocative sound.

Members from the All Saints Sandon bellringing community come together to meet and practise the art of bell ringing. While the team are still enthusiastic amateur carillonneurs, their passion for learning their instrument shines through in this short video of a recent group meet.

The bells are rung for Sunday Services, weddings, festivals such as Easter, funerals when requested, and significant other events such as Remembrance days, and the death and coronation of a monarch.

Such is the quality of the Ring that the church is often host to other bands of ringers who come to enjoy our bells.
