Sandon funeral of Lady Harrowby

THE FUNERAL was held at Sandon Church on Saturday of the Countess of Harrowby, of Sandon Hall, near Stafford, who died following a short illness.

Born Jeanette Rosalth[é] Johnston-Saint, Lady Harrowby was a talented professional artist, whose work had been exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon and the Royal Institute of Old Painters.

Educated at Queen’s College, Harley Street, London, and later the Heatherley School of Fine Art, she married Dudley Danvers Granville Coutts Ryder, the 7th Earl of Harrowby, in 1949.

Lady Harrowby, who lost a short battle against cancer, leaves husband Lord Harrowby; a son, Conroy, the Viscount Sandon; and a daughter, Lady Rosalth[é] Rundall – both of whom are married and live around Gloucestershire. There are seven grandchildren.

Details of a memorial service in London have yet to be announced.
