SANDON

Death of Mr. W. Middleton.—The death took place on Good Friday of Mr. William Middleton, of Kendricks farm, after a long illness. Deceased was of a genial disposition, and will be missed in the village, having been a member of the Parish Council over 20 years, and chairman 14 years. He was also a school manager for many years, and treasurer of the village club for 23 years. Much sympathy is felt with his widow and family. The funeral took place on Monday at Sandon Church, the Vicar (the Rev. J.D. Charlesworth) officiating. Mrs. Blakeman was the organist. The family mourners were Mrs. Middleton (widow), F. Middleton (son), Mrs. Plant, Hettie and Joyce (daughters), Mr. H. Middleton (brother), Mr. A Collier, Mr. F. Tavenor, and Mr. A Plant, Mr. J. Middleton, Mr. S. and Mrs. Couzens, and Mr. A. Perkin (employees), Mr. T.W. Knowles represented the Earl of Harrowby. The Parish Council were represented by Mr. J. Wright (clerk), Mr. S. Kent, Mr. M. Knobbs, Mr. F Ridout, Mr. T. Poyner, and Mr. A.H. Wright. Mr. W.E. Wright represented the school managers. The village club were represented by Mr. H. Bentley, Mr. J.P. Farr, Mr. H. Askey, Mr. W. Potts (Enson), Mr. W. Rhodes, Mr. J. Cadman (hon. sec.) and Mr. and Mrs. Green (caretakers). Others present were Mr. R. Lindop, Mr. W. Davidson, Mrs. Large, Mr. Elwood, and the Misses Elwood. Beautiful floral tributes were sent by Lucy, Winnie and Algy, Frank, Winnie, Hettie and Joyce, the Earl and Countess of Harrowby, Algy and Pat, Mrs. Lindop and Reg. Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Wright and family, Harry and wife and family, Nan, Hett and Frank, Doris and Stand, Winnie and George, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood and family, Sandon Parish Council, Sandon Village Club, Mr. and Miss Bentley, Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Coles, from Philip, Mr. and Mrs. F. Riley, from Eva, Annie and Lizzie, Joe and Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Large and Roy, Kate Edwin, and Mrs. J. Bennett.
