SANDON FEMALE FRIENDLY SOCIETY.—The annual meeting of this society was held at Sandon on Thursday last. The benefit members assembled at the school, and formed a procession to the church, in which several of the neighbouring clergy and other gentlemen and ladies joined. At divine service, prayers were read by the Rev. F.S. Bolton, of Salt, and an appropriate sermon was preached by the Rev. W.E. Coldwell, jun. After the service, the whole party proceeded to the Public Room, where a substantial feast was prepared. After grace, the party was addressed by the Revds. W.E. Coldwell, Edward Harland, and S. Plant; and Mr. Coldwell presented two handsome dresses, the gift of the Countess of Harrowby, to two of the benefit members, as a reward for three years faithful service. The party then adjourned, by invitation, to the beautiful lawn on the south side of Sandon Hall, where they were most kindly received by the Earl and Countess of Harrowby. Country dances were then formed, and kept up with great spirit during the evening. We had much pleasure in observing, as a proof, we trust, of his lordship’s improved health, as it was of his kindness and affability, that the Earl of Harrowby joined in with one of the dances, leading off one of the two benefit members who had received a dress. At about nine o’clock, after singing “God save the Queen,” and giving three cheers for the Earl and Countess of Harrowby, the party separated much pleased with the day’s entertainment.
