SANDON.—A harvest thanksgiving service was recently held at Sandon Church, when, notwithstanding the stormy weather, a good congregation assembled. After choral evensong, the sermon was preached by the Bishop of Shrewsbury, who, taking for his text Exodus xx, v. 7, warned his hearers against the possible misuse of harvest services which may come from too exclusive attention to the external details of decorating and Church music. The thanksgiving was continued on Sunday, when, after an early celebration of Holy Communion, the usual morning and evening services were conducted by the Vicar, the offertories at the four services amounting to £10 3s., which has been given to the appeal fund of the Diocesan Church Extension Society. The church was tastefully decorated with corn and flowers.
