SANDON FEMALE FRIENDLY SOCIETY.—The annual festival of this society was held on Thursday last. The members, accompanied by several of the neighbouring clergy and gentry, proceeded from the schools to Sandon Church, where prayers having been read by the Rev. W. E. Coldwell, jun., an excellent and appropriate sermon was preached by the Rev. Howard St. George, M.A., incumbent of Billinge, Lancashire. At the feast held in the public room, which was beautifully decorated in honour of her Majesty’s birthday, a large company attended, among whom were observed the Rev. E. Harland, S. Plant, F. Bolton, W. E. Coldwell, and J. Wilcox. After tea the company was addressed by several of the clergy, and a handsome dress each was presented to two members of the society for faithful service in their places during three years. The whole company then adjourned to the beautiful bowling green at Sandon Lodge, at the invitation of Mr. R. Stevenson, and the weather being most propitious, a very agreeable evening was passed in dancing, which was carried on with much spirit to the animating strains of the Stone Band. At nine o’clock the National Anthem was sung, and after three cheers for the Queen the company departed.
