Sandon Sunday School.—On Monday the children of this school were invited to Sandon Hall by the Earl and Countess of Harrowby, where a most enjoyable evening was spent. At 4.30 the children sat down to tea and did ample justice to the nice things provided. After tea, Lord Sandon, with a number of young ladies and gentlemen of the house party, helped to amuse the children, Lady Maud Ryder taking special charge of the tiny ones. Afterwards, lantern slides were shown (and explained by Lady Frances Ryder) from photographs taken by her ladyship on her tour. Then, after more games, the children were taken into the conservatory, where they found a lovely Christmas tree, from which each child received a present, crackers, and bags of sweets. Cheers were given for Lord and Lady Harrowby, Lord Sandon, Lady Frances Ryder, and all who so kindly helped to entertain them. After singing the National Anthem, the children left, each receiving an orange.—On Christmas morning the children of the day school went as usual to Sandon Hall, where each child received a Christmas card from Lady Harrowby, and a new sixpence from Lord Harrowby.

Sandon Village Club.—The Earl of Harrowby gave an interesting address in the gymnasium of the Village Club on the 29th ult., on his “Tour Around the World.” The room was crowded. The lecture was illustrated by lantern slides, and at the conclusion Lord Harrowby said if anyone present thought of going to any of the Colonies he should be pleased to give him advice or an introduction. A vote of thanks was proposed by the Vicar (the Rev. V.E. Sauerlaender), and Mr. W.E. Wright, in seconding, said many in the room knew that his lordship had helped several to get a good start in Canada, and he felt sure both they and their friends were most grateful to him for doing so.
