SANDON

Village Club.—The annual meeting of the Village Club was held on Tuesday. There was a fair attendance. In the absence of the President (the Earl of Harrowby) the chair was taken by Mr. T.W. Knowles. The statement of accounts showed a balance in hand of 18 guineas. All the retiring officers were re-elected, with the addition of Mr. T.W. Harris as vice-president.

Farmer’s Death.—The death took place at Stone House Farm, on Sunday, of Mr. George Michael Gaywood, aged 83. For many years the deceased was the tenant of Dayhills Farm, on the Sandon estate, from which he retired in 1925. The funeral took place at Sandon Church on Wednesday.

Wedding.—The wedding took place at All Saints’ Church, on Wednesday, of Miss Elsie Cadman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Cadman, Sandon, and Mr. Reginald George Johnson, of Salt. The Vicar (the Rev. F.E. Copleston) officiated. The bride was given away by her father, and wore a dress of white crepe-de-chine, and carried a bouquet of tulips. The bridesmaids were Miss Elsie Chinn and Miss Olive Johnson. Mr. Sidney Johnson acted as best man. There was [a] large congregation, and the “Wedding March” was played by Mr. John Wright. A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents.
