Church fund raising

SANDON Church Festival is being held next weekend in aid of the Church tower Restoration Fund.

From Friday, July 7 to July 9 the church will be decorated along the theme of British Food and Farming, starting at 7.30pm on Friday with Antiqua e Moderna performing Music for a Summer Evening.

Antique e Moderna includes soprano Petronella Dittmer and organist and harpsichordist Richard Coulson.

Organiser Keith Farr said “They have played together at the Barbican and on Radio Three and we are looking forward to it very much.”

The church is open from 10am on Saturday with local musicians performing and stalls and refreshments.

On Sunday there will be Sunday School activities from 2.30pm to 3.30pm and the festival weekend will conclude with evensong at 6.30pm.

The main aim of the weekend is to restore the bell tower which is having £7,000 of repairs on stone work. The appeal still needs over £2,000.
