Fault finding checks free

A “GENEROUS gift” by an anonymous donor has paid for a fault-finding inspection of All Saints Church, Sandon.

Every five years an architect examines the church to establish exactly how much work needs to be done to keep the building in good order.

“I do not know how much the inspection cost,” said the Rev. Richard Grace, vicar of All Saints. “But it will have been a considerable amount of money.”

The inspection of St James at Salt also revealed some problems.

“Over the next 10 years a great deal of money will have to be spent on the roof,” reported Mr Grace.

“Obviously, fund-raising has to be done. There are ideas in the pipeline but they have not yet been finalised.”
