Stafford Corporation Annual Coursing Dinner.—The day’s coursing, given by Earl Talbot to the Corporation, took place on Wednesday last, on his lordship’s estate at Hopton, Ingestre and Sandon. The attendance was good, and the sport in the latter part of the day excellent. Seventeen hares were killed. At five o’clock a large party dined together, as usual, at Mr. Lea’s, the Star Inn, Stafford. Charles Dudley, Esq., (Mayor) presided. Major Chetwynd, M.P., honored [sic] the party with his company. After an excellent and bountiful repast had been disposed of, and the cloth drawn, the customary loyal toasts were given. The healths of “Major Chetwynd, ‘M.P.” of “Earl Talbot, the Lord Lieutenant, and thanks to him for his day’s sport,” and “the Dowager Lady Chetwynd,” were afterwards received with great enthusiasm, and drunk with 3 times 3, and “one cheer more.” The health of “the Major” was also drunk with honours; as was that of “Mr. Justice Jones, the late mayor;” “the Aldermen;” “Mr. Henshaw;” And “Mrs. Lea, and thanks for her good cheer.” Songs were sung by several amateurs present, and the company broke up about ten o’clock.

On Sunday morning last, a sermon was preached in Sandon Church, by the Rev. Edward Harland, M.A., under the authority of the Queen’s letter, in aid of the venerable society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts, after which the liberal sum of 11∫. 11s. was collected.
