SANDON

PARISH COUNCIL.—The first meeting of the newly appointed Parish Council was held on the 15th inst. Mr. W. Middleton was re-elected Chairman.—The Clerk reported that Messrs. Johnson and Titterton had been appointed overseers for the parish by the Stone Guardians.—It was agreed to place a notice on the Old Stocks ground, warning people against depositing rubbish there.

DEATH of Mr. W. WOOLFE.—Mr. William Woolfe passed away on Monday afternoon at the ripe age of 89. For many years he lived at Hardiwick Farm, and was a keen agriculturist. He had jovial and kindly disposition, and was beloved by all who knew him. On retiring he came to live with his son in law, Mr. J.T. Johnson, at whose residence he died. Mr. Woolfe was buried on Wednesday at Sandon Church. The coffin was borne on a farm waggon, and there was a large attendance of relatives and friends at the graveside.

DEATH of Mr. H. Lever.—Early on Monday Mr. Henry Lever succumbed to a severe attack of pneumonia at the age of 60. He will be greatly missed, as he was an energetic worker for all charitable causes in the village. He was a special constable, and wore the King’s Medal, and was the secretary of the Village Club. The funeral took place on Thursday. Much sympathy is felt for Mrs. Lever and her sons.
