Village Club.—The annual dinner of the Trent Valley and Inter Village Billiards League was held at the Dog and Doublet on Tuesday, 60 being present. The President, Mr. F.G. Amies (Mayor of Stafford), who was accompanied by Mrs. Amies, presided. Mr. Prince proposed “The President and The League.” He spoke of the sporting spirit displayed by members of the competing teams, and said the League were fortunate in having Mr. Amies in that office. The President, in reply, said nothing gave Mrs. Amies and himself more pleasure than to encourage any kind of sport. Mr. Heath proposed “The Donors of Prizes,” and Mr. Wilmot Martin and Mr. Poole (Burroughes and Watts) responded. Mr. Giffin proposed “The League Champions,” saying how they appreciated the sporting spirit shown by Weston. Mr. Maudsley replied for Weston. Mrs. Amies presented the season’s prizes, and Mr. J. Cadman thanked her. Mr. Callshaw, Mr. Martin, Mr. Felthouse, Mr. Stubbs, Mr. Fern, Mr. Chesworth and Mr. Stubbes contributed musical items.
