SANDON

POPPY DAY RESULTS.—A total of £41 6s. 11d. was realised from the sale of poppies for Earl Haig’s Fund by the Sandon and District British Legion Branch. Proceeds from the different areas was as follows:--Milwich, Mr. John Williams, £7 2s. 10½d.; Gayton, Mr. I. Bailey, £3 19s. 1d.; Salt, Mr. J. Mountford, £2 15s. 5d.; Sandon Bank, Mrs. J. Tomlinson, £2 10s. 5½d.; Burston, Mrs. E. Stubbs, £4 5s.; Sandon Stores, Mrs. R.G. Johnson, £1 16s 9d.; Sandon, Mrs. S. Berrisford, £3 3s. 10d.; Sandon, Mrs. C. Prince, £1 12s. 8d.; Hopton, Mrs. J. Challinor, £2 2s.; Lichfield Rd., Mrs. M. Fowles, £1 16s. 5d.; Smallrise, Mrs. L. Robson, £2 18s. 9d.; Sandon Church collection, £2 18s.; Salt church collection, £1 6s.; and Burston church collection £2 19s. 7d.

W.I.—On Wednesday, Sandon W.I. held its annual meeting in the Parish Rooms. Mrs. P. Cloke presided. The following appointments for next year were made: President, The Countess of Harrowby, vice-presidents, Mesdames Dix, Jerrett and Tipper; secretary, Miss K. Bentley; treasurer, Miss K. Phillips. Committee: Mesdames Askey, Bocking, Cloke, Foster, Myatt, Williamson, Wood and Miss Jerrett. Correspondent, Mrs. S. Berrisford. Refreshments for the Christmas party were arranged. A whist drive followed, organised by Mrs. J. Haynes, the hostess.
