Wedding March is played at Harrowby funeral
The wedding march to which the Earl and Countess of Harrowby left the church as a bride and bridegroom in 1887 was played at their joint funeral at Sandon Church, near Stafford, on Saturday.
The Earl, who was 91, died three days after his wife, who was 89. The entire village which is part of the 6,000-acre Sandon Estate, was in mourning.
Springs of myrtle laid on the coffins were part of a plant grown at the hall from a cutting taken from Lady Harrowby’s wedding bouquet.
