Quietly, and with simple ceremony, the funeral of the late Earl of Harrowby took place at Sandon Church, near Stone, in Staffordshire, and among the mourners were the Duke of Sutherland, the Earl of Dartmouth, the Earl of Lichfield, Mr. J.H. Dudley Ryder, M.P. (now Viscount Sandon), Earl Spencer, the Hon. W.F.D. Smith, M.P., Mr. Hugh Coutts, Sir C. Forster, and representatives of the local authorities of the district and of the various philanthropic and educational institutions with which the late peer was associated. The service was conducted by the Bishop of Lichfield, assisted by the Rev. Guy Warne (Vicar of Sandon), the Rev. Algernon Ryder (nephew of the deceased), and the Rev. Provost Talbot. Viscount Sandon, M.P., leave for Mentone to-day, to join his father (now the Earl of Harrowby), who is in delicate health, and was too unwell to attend the obsequies of his brother.
