1,500 VISIT SANDON CHURCH FETE

A bouquet of pink flowers was presented by four-year-old Judith Sargent, and five-year-old Janice Shepherd to Viscountess Sandon when she opened the Sandon village garden fete on Monday, realised 30s when the Viscountess returned it to be auctioned.

The purchaser then gave it to the flower stall, where it was sold once more.

Attracted by the good weather and the lovely gardens of Sandon Hall, where the fete was held for the second time since the war, about 1,500 people were present, and approximately £250 was raised towards the repairs and heating of Sandon Church.

There was a variety of stalls and sideshows, while attractions for the children included sports and a Punch and Judy show. The day’s programme ended with dancing on the lawn.
