SANDON HALL VISIT
By Nearly 500 M.U. Members
Nearly 500 Mothers’ Union members of the Stoke-on-Trent Deanery had an outing to Sandon Hall, near Stafford on Monday.
They travelled by coach and were received in relays of about 100 at the hall entrance by their Archidiaconal Vice-President (the Countess of Harrowby) who addressed a few words of welcome to each group.
Shown round the hall by Lady Frances Ryder and members of the staff, the party afterwards visited the gardens.
Tea was served at the “Dog and Doublet,” and later they went to Sandon Church, where in order to accommodate all, two services (one following the other) were conducted by the Vicar (Rev. Basil Buckland).
The outing was organised by the Presiding Member (Mrs. Dale) who was assisted by the Rev. Ivo and Mrs. Knowles, of Trent Vale.
