SANDON

Harvest Festival.—At the 12th Century Church of All Saints, Sandon, the harvest Thanksgiving was celebrated on Thursday and on Sunday. The Vicar (the Rev. W.B. Buckland), conducted the service on Thursday evening, the preacher being the Rural Dean (the Rev. W.H. Fox, Vicar of Bradeley). This was followed by a children’s harvest service on Friday morning. The Rev. Rolf Schottelvig (Castle Church, Stafford), took the service on Sunday. The Vicar preached at both Matins and Evensong. The fruit, flowers and vegetables with which the church was decorated will eventually be dispatched to local hospitals. All services were very well attended. A harvest anthem was sung by the choir under the direction of the organist and choirmaster, Mr. W. Spinks. Lessons were read by the churchwardens and local farmers.
