SANDON

Funeral of Mr. George Gilbert.—The funeral of Mr. George Gilbert, a former postmaster at Sandon, took place at Sandon Church on Saturday afternoon. The service was conducted by the Rev. F.E. Copleston (vicar), and Mr. Wright officiated at the organ. The mourners were Mr. and Mrs. J. Wheeler (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. E. Wheeler (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. Mead (daughter), and Mr. and Mrs. W. Sharpe. Mr. S. Hewitt represented the Post Office staff. There was a beautiful array of wreaths.

Death of Mr. Edwin Pilsbury.—After a short illness, Mr. Edwin Spilsbury [sic] died at the residence of his son at Burston, on March 3, at the age of 67. Mr. Pilsbury was an old employee on the Sandon Estate, working as a painter and decorator. He had a lifelong association with the little chapel at Burston, and had been superintendent of the Burston Sunday School and Chapel clerk for many years. He was a past Grandmaster of the Earl of Harrowby Lodge of Oddfellows. The funeral service at Sandon Church on Monday was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. F.E. Copleston). There was a large congregation. Wreaths were sent by the Earl and Countess of Harrowby, Mr. and Miss Stubbs (Burston Hall), the members and officials of the Harrowby Lodge of Oddfellows, the old scholars of Burston Sunday Schools and many relatives and friends.
