Sandon funeral of Mr. W. Bowers
The funeral took place at Sandon Parish Church on Saturday, the Rev. W.B. Buckland (vicar) officiating, of Mr. William Bowers, Sandon Road Farm, Hilderstone, who died after a long illness at the age of 43.
Mr. Bowers, whose family have long associations with the Sandon estate, was a tenant of the Earl of Harrowby. He leaves a widow, one son, and a daughter.
Assisting at the ceremony were the Rev. G.B.J.R. Watson (vicar of Hilderstone), and the Rev. H. Marshall (Stone). Family mourners were the Widow, Miss Barbara Bowers (daughter), Mr. Geoffrey Bowers (son), Mr. E. Shaw (father-in-law), Mrs. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. E. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. H. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. L. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. C. Rogers, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Bettes (brothers and sisters-in-law), Mrs. Stanley and Mrs. Pearce (aunts), Mr. C. Stanley, Miss. M. Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. Rowson (cousins), Messrs. H.E. Shaw, J.L. Shaw, C. Shaw, and P. Shaw (nephews) and Mrs. R.G. Bassett (niece).
Others present included Mr. and Mrs. E. Shaw, Mr. S. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. L. Elkin, Nurse Hamilton, Mr. S.J. Rennix, Mr. R.G. Bassett, Mr. T.W. Knowles (also representing the Earl and Countess of Harrowby), Police Inspector T. Davies, P.c. Jones, P.c. Brown, Mr. H. Rickuss, and Mr. G.L. Hartwell (representing Messrs. F.H. Burgess, Ltd., Eccleshall). The bearers were Messrs. M. Leese, H. Smith, T. Ball, and J. Myatt.
