Met in Swaziland, married at Sandon

Married at All Saints’ Church, Sandon, on Saturday, were Miss Gillian Grindley, daughter of Colonel and Mrs. W.H. Grindley, of The Cedars, Stone, and the Rev. John Cotgrove, who is the Vicar of St. Michael’s Church, Bromley-by-Bow. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S.D Cotgrove.

The couple met in Swaziland, South Africa, where Mr. Cotgrove was a chaplain and where Miss Gringley was teaching. Mr. Cotgrove only returned from Africa last December, and he became Vicar of St. Michael’s in February.

The service was conducted by the Rev. G.R. Greenup (Vicar of Sandon), and the Rev. W.T. Jenner (Vicar of St. George’s, Southall).

The bride wore a white satin gown with a full-length Brussels lace veil. She carried a bouquet of lilies-of-the-valley, gladioli and stephanotis.

Her bridesmaids, Miss E. Grindley (sister) and Miss A. Cotgrove and Miss J. Cotgrove (neices of the bridegroom), were in dresses of spring green nylon organza. They had bouquets of pink and white gladioli.

Dr. Stephen Cotgrove (brother of the bridegroom) was best man and the groomsmen wre Mr. W.P.D. Grindley, Mr. R. Cornish and Mr. P. Acheson-Gray.
