SANDON

Carol Service.—A service of nine lessons and carols was held at All Saints’ Church, Sandon. The Vicar (the Rev. G.F. Greenup) took the service and there was an excellent congregation. Carols, old and new, were sung by the choir, with Mr. E.C.B.B. Chambers at the organ. The lessons were read by Mr. J. Furber (choir), Judith Sargent (Sunday School), Mr. E.C. Chambers (organist), Mr. M.C. Bagshawe (P.C.C), Miss Susan Middleton (Sunday School teacher), Mrs. G. Martin (Mother’s Union), Mr. P. Holford (Sacristan), and churchwarden and the Vicar. Each lesson was followed by an appropriate carol.

School Party.—A happy breaking-up party was held at the Sandon Parochial School. Father Christmas (P.C. Love) with a sock full of presents, was in fine form, and with the addition of some gifts for the young children on the Christmas tree every child was provided for. Sandwiches, jelly, cakes and ice cream were provided, as well as crackers. The party was made possible by the Parents-Teachers Association. Each child left for home with an orange and apple. The Vicar (the Rev. C.F. Greenup) and Mrs. Greenup were present and Miss E. Watson (Headmistress) and Mrs. J. Phillips were responsible for the organisation.

CLUB PARTY.—The annual Christmas party for members of Sandon Village Club was held there on Friday, each member inviting a guest. The club was gaily decorated for the event, and among those present were the Earl and Countess of Harrowby and the Vicar (the Rev. G.F. Greenup). Games and dancing were enjoyed, Mr. Ivor Davies being M.C.
