WORKED ON ESTATE FOR 51 YEARS

A Sandon Estate workman for 51 years, Mr. James Henry Cadman has died at his home in Sandon, near Stone.

Ages 73 and a native of the village, Mr. Cadman who was a painter, retired three years ago.

As a young man he played cricket for Sandon and never lost his interest in the club’s well being. He was an original member of Sandon village club and occupied every office at the club.

A devout churchman, he had been People’s Warden at Sandon for 29 years. After serving in France in the First World War he began an association with the British Legion which continued to his death. He had taken a lifelong interest in the work of the Earl of Harrowby Lodge of Odd Fellows and was a Past Grand Master of the Stafford district.

Mrs. Cadman, who was taken seriously ill about a month ago, is in hospital in Stafford.

The funeral service was held at All Saints’, Sandon, on Wednesday.
